Car stalled once - but then starts right back up!?
Car stalled once - but then starts right back up!?
Hey gang - completeley baffled. Car's been sitting for past few months (every now and then I would start it). Took it for a ride around the block today. After about 20 minutes of it running, I was going maybe 25 MPH making a turn when all of a sudden it just DIED. Electronics were still on - but the car just stalled out of no where. So i'm thinking I ran out of gas. (entire dash is disconnected - so I can't see fuel. but I KNOW I put some gas in it last time we drove it, so there is no way I'm out.) Anyway, I pulled over...waited about 10 secs, turned the key - and the car started right up again!
At that point I was a bit concerned, so I drove right back home (only a few blocks). It did fine. I haven't done much with the engine except replace the oil, fuel filter, and some EGR hoses. Any insights as to what would cause this stall out of no where?
Other than that, the car seems to run fine. There was a point about 10 minutes before it happened that I was at a stop sign and the car kind of idled a bit rough, but it didn't stall and actually got better as I continued driving.

#1 Check the connections to the computer under the dash, they can come loose causing an intermittent problem.
#2 check the fuel filter. If it is getting blocked off, once the motor dies it can release the flow/pressure allowing the blockage to fall away.
#3 Check the TPS and make sure it is adjusted correctly.
#4 The module inside the distributer could be going bad (Heat soak problem).
These issues have popped up on mine in the past, causing the problems.
