can i make a Vortec 350?

I have a basic gen 1 SBC 350 bored 60 over decked (idk how much) and i wanna change the top end (except the cam).

Ok so i think i wanna get aftermarket vortec heads and edelbrock rpm air gap vortec intake... is that all i need to change inorder to run a vortec setup??? Will my header still fit? Will the distributer still work? Will I need to get different length pushrods because of the different angle of vortec heads? Thanks!

Re: can i make a Vortec 350?

I built my Vortec engine, used regular old style pushrods, an older vacuum advance distributor, and headers that are made to fit older (non vortec) heads.

Others will chime in, but I dont see any problems.

Ok sounds good. I have a StreetFire Vaccumm and mechanical advance distributor along with Comp Cam Pushrods because the block has been decked... the motor has no computer control left what so ever. Hopefully the headers will work.

I've got fabricated aluminum valve covers, i wish they had vortec heads that had outter bolt hold downs. Oh well : (.

Yeah, you'll be fine with what you got. I did the same thing a couple of months ago.

You can run either V-belts, or Serpentine.

I have had both on my motor.
