What to check before road trip?

This Friday i'm going to take my car from Northeast Pennsylvania to a Philadelphia Phillies game and back. Round trip is about 255 miles. I am wondering what I should check before I leave and what should I bring with me. Here is a list of recent work i've had done on the car within the last 6 months so you know the state of my IROC.

1987
60,000 miles
Rebuilt 700r4 with shift kit and vette servos
new fuel pump
4 new tires
new front end
new muffler
new alternator
new starter

I wouldn't call 250 miles a road trip. Just make sure all your fluids are present and your tire pressures are correct.

Check your coolant level and fluids. Make sure your belt and radiator hoses are in line. I wouldn't call 250 mile round trip a road trip. You can do that in a single tank of gas.

Re: What to check before road trip?

The thing is though I just found out yesterday is that the PO really screwed up my electrical system. My fuel pump never actually died, it just blew a whole bunch of fuses because the pump and the fans are apparently running on the same circuit in the computer? The fans always stay on in my car when the key is in the on position whether the engine is hot or cold. So as a temporary fix I just disconnected one fan to reduce the draw on the pumps power and replaced all of the fuses. Will one fan in Philly traffic be enough to cool the car?

Go down to the parts store get a 40 amp universal relay toggle switch, wire connectors and some 12 gauge wire. Re-wire the fan to the switch so all you have to do is throw the switch for the fans to come on. That is what I did seeing how the PO butchered my wiring.

How exactly do I wire up this fan and switch? With an inline fuse to the battery? Because I don't want to put too much stress on this system again and break down in traffic.

Also I don't know what my temp is because the way he screwed up the system doesn't let the temp gauge work apparently, is there a way I can rig it to work for this trip?
