SBC timing question.

So i just got my vortec heads put on my 350 block today. Got the valves adjusted and everything is running pretty well. My question, there is no timing tab on the front cover to time with or any mark or arrow for that matter. Is there a timing light or something that can time the car properly without a mark to show 0 from? Or will i absolutely have to find 0 like with the piston stop method for instance?

Re: SBC timing question.

When I built my motor I found top dead with a magnetic base dial indicator with the heads off then used this pointer. It is adjustable so how accurate your timing is is up to you.
