carb issue
ok, ill start with some background info.
i was driving home when i first got my 1985 chevy camaro 5.0 305 carbed.
i heard a dull pop as if there was a back fire from the carb. i had the accelerator depressed about halfway. after the pop, the engine bogged down and would only continue to run if i would constantly tap the accelerator.
it was a stock e4me computer controlled carb. ran perfectly before this issue.
i bought a new carb, a holley model rochester, non computer controlled. it was the only one available and i didnt know it wasnt the same carb. i adjusted the idle properly and the mixture.
the issue i have had since is, when i go wide open throttle, the engine bogs down, doesnt cut off, doesnt accelerate, but bogs down.
this doesnt happen when the car is in park or neutral.
i didnt think it through when i got the new carb. when i noticed that it wasnt the same i should have took it back. but now that im fed up with this issue, ive even considered gettin the stock carb, but i hate to waste this part. and id really like to know what the prob is.
could anyone help.

You need a non-computer distributor as well. Then some means to lock up the torque converter clutch because the computer will not have the information it needs to do that.
Personally, I'd go back and get the correct carb.
