LT1 bad lifters??
Hey guys, swapped an LT1 into my thirdgen.
Specs below:
Cam: LT4 hotcam
Rockers: Roller tip
Springs: LT4 Hotcam kit springs
Stock iron heads
Stock bottom end
I have a problem, i noticed (with the engine running) i have NO oil at the rockers on the passenger side. And i have ONE on the driver side thats oiling, and it's like a freakin machine gun (over the fenders at idle, like a hose at throttle). I pulled the rockers and pushrods. I checked the ones that didnt work, they were straight and clean. No marks on the rockers at all. Checked the ONE that worked, looked identical. Do i have multiple collapsed lifter or something? I dont have any knocking coming from the motor. Oil pressure on a mech gauge reads 50psi on a cold start, 30 when warm and increases with revs.
Any ideas guys?

From a cold start on a new build, I've seen it take as long as 90 seconds to get oil out of all 16 pushrods. How long did you run yours?

better pull the rockers off and make sure there's no galling from the pushrods rubbing the rockers without oil.
Back to your symptoms:
This is usually mis-adjusted rockers rather than bad lifters, but if you want to disassemble the lifters and clean them, it couldn't hurt. If you try this, you'll find it helps to make a small hook tool from a wire paperclip. The hook should be a 90 degree bend made with the tip of needlenose pliers. After the hook, you need about an inch of straight, then bend the rest into a small loop for a handle.

Re: LT1 bad lifters??
I tryed readjusting a few with the motor on to make sure i didnt have my preload to high and smashing the lifters. With motor running, i loosened a few rockers till they ticked, tightened them just to where they stopped ticking, and then 1/4 turn of preload. I think I'll pull the intake today, and clean/soak the lifters over night if everything looks ok.
In the meantime, any other suggestions?
