PLEASE HELP ME!

ok so i have a 1987 trans am GTA, with a 305 TPI.
now ok so i start my car right, it will run fine, then if i shut it off and if i wait like 5 mins or more it and start it back up it will run like complete ***. it will start but it wont like to stay running, it makes a kinda poping noise and is gutless. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
