Need Help on my 86 T/A

I am in desperate need of some help. I am in the process of restoring my 1986 tpi 305 trans am. It has an automatic transmission. I was told I need a new wire harness. I called HAWKs they only have a 87-88 harness. Will this work on my 86 bird? It is for an automatic car with dual fans. I am trying to build this car for my son and the bills keep racking up...Please Help

Pete

Which harness do you need, the ECM harness (goes to the passenger side fenderwell), or the C100 (goes to the driver side of the firewall)?

The ECM harness should be pretty much the same for any of those years, but I wouldn't swear to that.

For the other harness, neither would be a plug & play, but the '87 would be closer. Some connectors changed, such as the alternator and AC pressure switch. The '88 was serpentine, and wouldn't be a very good match at all (things switched sides of the engine).

Post on the parts wanted classifieds. Someone may be able to help you out.

Agreed. The 1987 harness should work for you, maybe needing only very small modification, depending on how you have things set up.

Thanks so much guys, I will call HAWKS tommorow and try it out. I just want this car to run well. Just rebuilt the motor, rear and countless other parts. Would like to have it ready for my son this summer...
