Harmonic balancer

I purchased a 350 a while back with no harmonic balancer. I rebuilt it and also did a t-5 swap to my car. But now I'm having a issue the harmonic balancer I got from a friend looks like they hammered it on before. The rubber is still good in it. And it's not bent but by the bolts it looks like crap. Will that mess up my balance. And also how do I tell if my 350 is from a truck or car becuase I heard harmonic balancers are different for cars and trucks. Sorry for rambling but please help need my car done.

Re: Harmonic balancer

305 and 350 dampers should be the same 6 3/4" on these cars.

Re: Harmonic balancer

Sorry if i confused anyone. But my motor is not out of a camaro. I don't think atleast. I bought the motor ran the casting numbers came back as a 350. But are there numbers to run to tell if it's from a truck. And are truck and car balancers the same.

Re: Harmonic balancer

Yes hammering could mess it up. You can get new balancers all day long for under 100 dollars. The question is, what RPM range will it be run at? most daily drivers will spend most it's life under 3500rpm.Also do you plan of drag racing it a lot? if so you will need to get one that is SFI aproved, in this case they start getting high up on the prices.
In no way do you have to spend more than a 100 bucks on these unless as I said you are going to race it all the time.
