just bought 85 trans am 305 need some help

okay i just bought an 85 trans am wih the 305 tpi 110k miles and it starts and runs great with a freshly rebuilt 7004r tranny its got a few problems though. one the oil dipstick broke off about half way... how do i go about changing that. two wtf why is this engine compartment got some much **** in it lol i wanna take this ac outta here and the smog pump its got 3 belts would i just take them out? they each have there own belt that runs off the water pump and what about that radatior the ac system goes two? does that leak coolan if i take the lines off?. and would deleteing the smog pump cause any problems sorry about all the questions please reply(:
i wanna change my headers and also.
the engine is very dirty (dry oil dirty)and it looks like the vavles covors may leak a little but if u start it and let it run for maybe over ten minutes it will start to smoke from each side of the engine (white smoke) im thinking either the valve covors leaks or the head gasket leaks maybe both?

Re: just bought 85 trans am 305 need some help

The dipstick might be held on with a bolt. Unbolt it and just pull it out and the new one will just slide in. Theres a bunch of threads on here about people removing the AC and AIR system. The "radiator" your talking about is the AC condenser. If you pull the lines off with the system charged, it will discharge (which its illegal to vent refrigerant into the atmosphere on purpose). If youre gonna remove the AC, take it to a shop and have them evacuate the AC charge before you try and remove anything. White smoke means water is getting into your cylinders, its most likely a blown head gasket.
