Yeah, I think she's goin' down... I drove yesterday and decided to take my WOT lap around the block well I couldn't even get past my house and the RPM'S started to dip like the night that the fuel pump went bad originally. So today i'm going to try to do the fuel filter, i'm going to back drain it with some brake cleaner and see what come out the reverse end... I kinda hope its clogged because thats the reason it stumbles but i kinda hope its clean because that should mean a clean tank right?????????

Also some other quick questions...
1. What is the normal oil pressure supposed to be at operating temp?
2. How can I cut the A.I.R tube going to the cat, and how can I match the 2 tubes back.. (I want to gut it) My old car had like a silicone sleeve that held the 2 ends together...
And last but not least 3.... I didn't change my fuel filter yet, I contacted the previous owner when and if he ever changed it. well he said no and he had and drove the car daily for like 7 years... Yeah, thats BAD... but yesterday I went to replace it and the lines to and from the filter are rusted to Sh*t. they are bad. So would it be a good idea to basically cut the filter off like an inch past the fitting on each side and then get a new 6 inch line, cut it in half and put the fittings on the new fuel filter then just match them up to the old lines and put rubber fuel hose with clamps on both ends? almost like the fuel pump installation... Would that be a good idea? I mean for now i guess it has to be. the car like surges at 40 mph and really struggles to go faster than that. the fuel pump sound louder and more growley then the light wistle that it should have. But theres probably so much sh*t in the old filter that its just straing the living hell out of the new pump. Please help guys!

I've had a Camaro that would run 1/4-1/2 way up the oil pressure gauge, and a dodge dakota that consistently ran right at the top. Both had problems, but they weren't oil pressure related.

If your oil pressure get's real high over time and stays high when you shut your car off for short periods and turn it back on, but returns to normal when the car sits for a while between running times, you could be looking at a spun bearing. There are other indicators for that, though. Wouldn't worry too much, it isn't that common.

I'm not sure about the Cat. I've never deleted one with AIR hoses before. Maybe try a forum search? I'm sure it's been discussed here. I'd like to know a good way to bypass the system, too, if you find one. If you're going to gut it, the AIR hoses will no longer work they way they're supposed to. Given this, my inclination would be cut them off.

And number 3... yes that will work, but often brake/fuel lines collect a lot of surface rust without compromising their integrity. Sure it looks bad, but the gasoline running inside prevents corrosion where it counts. Avoid bending them.

The crud in your tank is as much a factor of which gas station you fill up at as when. For 18-24 hours after the gas station's tank gets filled, all the crud in their tank ends up in yours. After that it settles back down.

Well, my oil pressure isn't high. I'm not worried about that, but It hangs low... it stays above the red thought and is a little over 30 when its at a cold start. I was just wondering... But with the air pipe It will still function properly with the cat gutted... It only blows gasses into the cat that come from the pump for emissions. but I want to know how to cut it and mount the 2 ends back together. and the fuel lines, the fittings are completly rusted, thats why i want to cut them so I can change the fuel filter. and the car just runs like complete crap now. I hope it is just that the fuel filter is bad...

I dropped my tank a few years ago. I am not setup to to this without being on my back on hard ground. Never again. I am cutting an access hole in the future. I bought it new in 1989 and its going nowhere until I am in the ground permanently.

If its done right it will be fine. I am also cutting one on my 2005 Grand AM.
