Cam swap in a few weeks, still cant decide what cam to run

Im tired of my small wimpy camshaft that was put in when I built my motor. I now have the extra $$ for a new camshaft and lifter kit so I want everyones suggestions on what to run, Im looking for a cam under .480 lift, good duration and a choppy idle. Ive been looking at COMP CAMS alot this week and was almost thinking of going to a roller camshaft and doing away the the hyd. flat tappet as all I would need to buy is new pushrods as my heads already have the correct rockers for a roller cam. I know five7kid will hopefully chime in and help me with my choice as he is ALWAYS so helpful when it comes to this kind of stuff . So based off my sig guys reccomend me the best cam for the buck wether it be roller or hyd. flat tappet.

If you're looking at Comp, then download their (free) Cam Quest program, put in your information, and see what they recomend.. Dang good program if your input is correct, beats the heck out of guessing or using one that "worked good" in someone else's application..... Oh yeah, I'd go hydraulic roller for both the performance advantage and the lack of zinc in the oil these days make cam life questionable with flat tappets...

Re: Cam swap in a few weeks, still cant decide what cam to run

Well I went and downloaded the comp cam program and it took me awhile to get the hang of it but after running through the list fo cams I think Im going with the Comp Cam 12-671-4. Its under the amount of lift I can go without having to machine the heads, and about the same kind of idle that I want. Anyone have anything good to say about this cam choice?
