hi...im zane from vancouver island b.c. canada
i just got a 1991 z28 with a 305 tpi,it has 89,000k on the car,it was running when parked a couple of years ago.....now it just turns over,if i use either it tries to go but not quite......its got a new fuel pump and fresh gas(lots of pressure at rail) new cap rotor...... working icm and coil....would the vats allow the car to turn over but not start if the key is shot?
any help or thoughts on what could be the cause would be great .

the 3 things an engine nedds, air, fuel spark. Make sure that the injectors are getting the signal to fire, use a noid light if possible, and make sure you have consistent spark, using a timing light and observing the flashes is an easy way to do this. I believe there is a fuse that controls the injectors, but start with those three main things,air fuel spark. Any check engine light codes?

 

And No, the car won't turn over or do anything if it's a VATS problem. Sounds like you're OK there
