Rod Knock? (Video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlLK2YYSi3s
Nobody can quite figure out what this particular knock is because it doesn't do it continuously like a normal rod bearing would, but rather intermittently and worse after the gas is let up. Oil pressure is over 30 when cold, but goes all the way to 0 when warm and idling, which is a sign of a bad bearing, but someone told me it could be the oil pump itself? The engine is a 350 from a (VIN K) truck of around the same year that had been severely overheated with both heads cracked, so we just used the 305 heads from the original Camaro (VIN E) engine. The engine was rebuilt in 2002 and has done this ever since, but we have no idea what the engine did before the rebuild. I was told that if it were a rod bearing, it would have blown by now? Stupidity prevented me from having a new oil pump installed at the time of the rebuild. Rebuild did not include a new crank, rods or pistons. More stupidity on my part I guess. The cam and lifters were new, as were the timing components.
The knock is very hard and can even be felt by touching the valve covers or intake.
How can this have lasted 8 years and not get worse? EIGHT YEARS!!!!
Motor honey hasn't helped.

Re: Rod Knock? (Video)
the motor could last for years with a knock if you dont run it everyday, all year long.
could also be piston pins, or the cam is 180 off. ( though i dont know for sure if that will cause the oil psi drop),
if the top half is all new, ( assuming its all compatable and done rite) then it has to be in the bottom. its really hard to hear it in the video . i guess the only way to know is to start with compression test. and check adjustment on the valves, and if you still dont know , pull the engine and check the bearings, and position of the cam. if still no answer, you may have to just rebuild the bottom end.
sorry if this doesnt help much

Re: Rod Knock? (Video)
Any advice and info greatly helps and I thank you for your suggestions.
Something to note is that the RPMs have been very high at different times and even WOT and it never gets worse.
I also forgot to mention that it does not knock when cold.
