Failed Smog
Here are my stats... the car runs great
HC ppm-15mph- Limit 55 Reading 55 25mph- Limit 60 Reading142
NO pmm- 15mph- Limit 720 Reading 547 25mph- Limit 700 Reading 1459
whats wrong? all the emissions control systems passed these were the failing stats, any tips?

How is your cat? When I first bought my 89 last year it ran great but failed big time. It was my cat, it was in pieces internally because it was the original.

Ya it might, my exhaust does make a rattle noise sometimes, was thinking it was the cat. and the previous owner did not have smog, whats a sure way to check?.. is there aftermarket cats good for smog?

Tap the bottom of the cat with something... hammer, chunk of wood, etc... and if it rattles then the honeycomb brick inside is broken. Time for a new cat.

I thought pretty much every state stopped testing pre OBD-II cars.. What a waste of taxpayer money..
