Help me get my camaro running right!

Alright, again, i know nothing aboot these cars. My starts, but i dont think it runs very well. If i drive for a while it makes the coolant resivour boil. and while idling, sometimes it idles around 1200, and the volt gauge will show 12v and maybe a couuple seconds later, itll idle at 600, barely running, and the volt gauge will show probably around 6-8 volts. When idling, if i stomp on the gas really quick, the revs kinda drop/stay the same for a quick second, then will rev up. Could this issue be ignition timing?
Anyway, also while tinkering around, i found that one hose was kinked and cracked. so i removed it and now the car holds a higher idle(1000-1200). I need someone to identify what a piece is. and have a pic.

Its the piece in the bottom right part of the pic, and has a hose that runs to the throttle body. What is this piece and what does it do? my guess is some emissions device.
Also, i can include a video if necissary.

Are you talking about the round coffee can looking thing? Thats your charcoal canister. It has a hose that runs to the passenger side of the throttle body, just under the coolant hose running to the TB. Its where your gas tank and fuel lines vent so you dont smell gas all the time.
Judging by your bad idle (only happens after it reaches operating temp huh?) and the fact that your heating up...Id say an injector swap is in your future. Get a multimeter (ohm meter) and test the injectors by unplugging the harness on the injector, and putting one lead of the meter on each of the pins in the INJECTOR itself. each one should read about 16 ohms (+/-1). Do this on each injector...cold first, then after you drive it and it gets hot and starts idling funny. Chances are a few are way out of spec. Your car will heat up with bad injectors too. If youre in a warm climate, you might also swap your thermostat for a 180 degree stat. And, make sure your fans are working...
Let us know what the results from your tests are...

Re: Help me get my camaro running right!

The round thing? It's the fuel system evaporative canister (or charcoal canister) - it recovers fuel vapors from the fuel lines/tank and contains them, then sends them to the TB for burning. The line is most likely a vacuum line, which needs to be replaced - as now you have a vacuum leak which will make the car run bad.

The overheating - is it doing it in town or on highway?

Re: Help me get my camaro running right!

alright, i will check each injector.
as far as overheating, i think it only does so in the city.
my temp gauge doesnt work either, so the only way i can tell is when i see and hear the coolant overflow tank boiling and steaming. Only hapens after drives longer than about 50 mins.

Also I am going to check the ignition timing, I read somewhere that ignition timing being off can make a car crank forever. And well my car starts really quick after about half a second to a second. Is this possibly relevant? And is the mark for tdc on the water pump?

The overheating sounds like a fan issue then - are the fan(s) running?

Timing mark on the harmonic balancer.

So i checked each injector and every one read between 16.4 - 16.7. found a kinked hose that ran to the charcoal canister and got a new one and hooked it up. still runs the same.
