Engine: both have a 305.. For now
Smog

I have a 83 trans am with a h code engine. I was wondering if it is ok to just take off all of the smog stuff. What troubles will i run into? any tips from someone who has already done this. Thank you very much.

Well, you can take the stuff off if you want, but it is against the law to do so. Had an 82 z28 that someone de-smogged and they had replaced the carb, intake, and distributor, so it really isn't worth it for the money the non smog stuff cost.

Won't affect anything performance wise leaving it on or taking it off. There's a ton of threads about it - do a or check the tech article (just ignore the serp belt stuff since you have a vbelt setup) https://www.thirdgen.org/serpentine
