are the rpm's too high?
i have a 92' camaro v8 305, on the way home from when i bought it the other day i noticed when i was driving 70 the rpm were anywhere from 3 to 3 to 4 on the rpm meter. is this too high? i had previously owned an 88 with a 305 v8 and it seemed like it had more power. do you guys think somethings wrong with the motor or something else? any suggestions will help im not too smart on these sort of thing. thanks -Hope

Tach gauges being bad is common on these.
About the more power with your other 305, There were different 305's in camaros and the difference between them can be quite a bit some have 150hp to 170hp (lg4?), some have 215 ('85 LB9), some have 220-225? (87+lb9)

oh ok. that might explain it. when i looked under the hood last night there was a tube thing not connected, it looked like it was some sort of air intake flowing into the carburator/ air filter section. its been running better now that i connected it. thanks =)
