Can a bad injector make a knocking sound?
Heres the story, I built a 385(specs in sig) and everything was fine at first. Recently I was driving and noticed the accel ecu was pullling timing away from the motor at idle and it seemed to be running ruff (surging). To make a long story short I pulled the plenum to change the fpr(smelled fuel in the vacuum hose) but the car is still surging pretty bad. There are no vacuum leaks, fuel pressure is good, but when using a mechanics stethoscope to listen, one of the injectors is knocking. Every other injector sounds like a ticking but #1 is definetly more of a hammering sound. Can an injector make a sound like that? thanks

anyone? Could I be hearing something else and its just the sound traveling through the injector?

noticed this thread is old and ur online. was it injectors? mines doing it to on the driver cylinders seems to get worse even with new msd cap rotor, plugs ect

Mine turned out to be the mechanics steath-a-scope I was using..... from the research I did at that time they can get carbon in them and become louder.
