troubleshoot fuel guage, ended up with light
troubleshoot fuel guage, ended up with light
Alright guys any ideas on this one? (1989 camaro L98) car was running flawlessly and had no check engine light. I was trying to figure out my fuel guage problem. I took the cover off of the guages to pull out the fuel guage. I then crawled under the car and unpluged the connector obove the rearend, cleaned it and put it back in. Now I have a check engine light
...the car was sputtering while accelerating. I got the car back home and unplugged the sender wire again and plugged it back in. now the car doesnt sputter at all but the check engine light is still on and the car idles high around 2k-2500rmp!? the idle slows down a little after driving for a while but not like it should...
I hate when I try to help her and she gives me hell back. Any ideas anyone????
THank You,
Jake

you reinstalled the connector while it was wet? what did you clean it with?
do you know what the code # is?
if you disconnect the battery, does the code come back?

no the connector was dry when i reinstalled it, it was fast drying electronics cleaner it evaporates almost instantly after applied. No i do not know what code it is, how do I find out what code it is?
Re: troubleshoot fuel guage, ended up with light
ok well now the car is running good(no cutting out ect...) and idling normal now. But the dang service engine light comes on immediatly after startup and stays on constantly now. any ideas? none of the local parts stores can hook up to the diagnostic plug bc its too old, so im probably going to have to swing by the chevrolet dealership and pay an outragous sum of money to diagnose it.
