No spark and no fuel to top injectors on tbi
Hey i am a new user. finally decided to sign up because no one has been able to help me with this so far. last night i had to take the engine apart to redo some seals and gaskets that where goin bad on it. i have a 1989 camaro rs 5l 305.
when i put the distributor back on i had to tap the starter to get it to fall into place.....now i do not think i am getting spark.
also when i attempt to start the car i do not see any fuel coming out of the injectors while it is cranking. i was told this is suppose to happen but i am not sure.
fyi i bought this car from someone claiming to be a mechanic and supposedly rebuilt the engine about 4k miles ago and i have had nothing but problems with it. i refuse to give up on it because i love this car when it running great.
if someone could help me with this so i can get it started i would greatly appreciate it.

Since you had a bunch of stuff apart, it may not be that the distributor is bad, but maybe not all of the connectors are back together. Check that the coil power is connected, then the small 2-wire pigtail between the coil and distributor. Note that that wire tends to go bad.
Definitely check for spark first.

ok as it turns out the distributor was bad. all the wires where connected properly but the distributor itself was a goner. i had a friend of mine who is a master tech come over and look at it and once i told him about ticking noise that i wasnt sure where it was coming from he picked up the distributor saw the rotor and the ecm and threw across my yard and went to pick up a new one. he said my timing was off along with a lot of other problems. he did the timing on it and put the new one in and it is now running better than it ever has since i bought it a couple months ago from a guy who claims to have to rebuilt the engine. turns out he caused more problems than he fixed. i have wires and plugs hangin everywhere. barely anything works but i am slowly but surely getting her all fixed up and looking good. thank you for your advice.
