ok im lost on this. just put polyloks on. tighteen down to zero lash. do quarter turn more (same as always did on this motor) tighten set screw and lash comes back......

Turn the set screw together with the nut for the last 1/8 turn.

Also, be sure the lifter is riding on the base circle of the lobe when you find ZERO lash. That's the part that many guys get tripped up on.

yeah ive set them before with no problem when i was using the regular nuts but they are worn so switched to polyloks now having this problem

Right.

Lifter riding on the lobe's base circle, set preload amount of your choice (I use 3/4 turn), tighten Allen head set screw with an Allen wrench, THEN tighten the entire poly lock assembly giving it a tad more of a turn by turning the hex head to lock everything in place. Done that way it won't loosen.

Lifter riding on the base circle (heel) is the key. If the lifter is on the cam's ramp you're not getting the preload you think you are.
