Timing Issues pulling 4 wire connector changes nothing.
Ok,
84 T/A, CCQjet, new 350 to replace the 305. I went to check my timing today and it was at 9btdc....with the electrical connector connected. It should be 9 without the distributor connected and off the scale with it connected. This could be part of my engine running problems that I've been describing in another thread with my part throttle problems. What could be causing this? Any ideas? I'm going to start with checking my wires. also of note, I am unable to pull check engine codes because the check engine light is on solid. Doing the paperclip trick does nothing, the light never blinks.

If you mean the 4 wire connector that plugs in the distributor yes. I disconnected it to check my timing, then reconnected it. Checked my timing again and the timing didn't move. So...i've got something wrong with my ECM or something along those lines.

Well, found a loose wire under the hood that may or may not have been grounding out and a blown fuse. I need to "KISS" these problems. Never considered the fuse. ugh.
