Help identify these ports!
hey guys just did a some work replacing the egr valve and cleaning out the ports trying to pass emissions. I got it all done and decided to take a look at the vacuum lines. Luckily my school had the correct diagrams but unfortunately ran into two problems.
On the back of the plenum there are two ports one of which goes to the fuel pressure regulator and the other is supposed to go to hvac. Can anyone help me find this line?
Also, on the egr solonoid there are two ports running out on one side which are both hooked up but on the other side there is another larger male connector with two metal clips attached to hold a line down. Where does this go to?
Thanks guys
Kacey

The HVAC line comes through the firewall with it's own grommet along with the heater blower wiring. Look for it under the A/C box back by the transmission dipstick tube. You can trace it from the drivers side of the engine compartment too since it'll T into a rubber line that goes to the vacuum canister and cruise control.
The EGR ports you're talking about are vents. At one time they were probably covered by little squares of foam.

Thank you Drew that helped alot.
unfortunately there are two lines coming out of the harness coming through the firewall. is there any way to distinguish these apart because i know where the other goes just dont know the name of the part and would like to make sure the previous owner had it correct after all the little things i found wrong id rather b safe than sorry.
Also on my evap canister my purge solonoid seems to have broken off of the canister itself. Will This hurt anything?

The one that's 3 feet long goes to the heater valve that sits next to the passengers side valve cover. The short one goes to the intake. Aside from the length, there isn't an external identifier.

lol they're the same length. Thats my luck though. guess ill just have to figure it out.
Could anybody tell me if the vapor canister fuel purge will hurt anything being broken off the actual canister?

Well... When the temp slider is on cool, the diverter valve causes the hot water to bypass the heater core. So you should be able to determine which is the source line and which is the diverter valve line by applying vacuum to one or the other and checking for the proper response at the other. When the source is hooked up right, all the dash vents will open and close the way they're supposed to. With it reversed it'll probably default to defrost full time.

Is the purge vacuum circuit still connected? Where the purge valve is broken loose from the canister does it seem to affect the purge flow itself? If not, the system will probably function okay. You will want to secure the solenoid somehow so its not flopping around. As far as drivability is concerned, the purge system has little effect, so long as the tank vent isnt restricted. A restricted tank vent valve will cause the engine to surge under cruise conditions.
