I recently bought a 1992 firebird without a motor i now have a 79 sbc 350 in there when im getting all finished up now. But being new to these cars what are some good mods to do? Its gonna be a street/strip car. And being only 19 im not really familiar with these older sbc 350's so what are some mods to do to the motor and the car. The car was originally a v6 if that makes a difference. Ive read subframe connectors are very popular upgrade is it really worth it? and which do you prefer the weld in or bolt in? So basically what are gonna be some good mods to do for handling and performance wise. i plan to be around 400hp in the future but not going straight to in now gonna work my way there. I currently have an edlebrock performer intake and a edlebrock 650 cfm carb every thing else is stock on the car as of right now.

Originally a V6 doesn't make a lot of difference.
Subframe connectors are a good idea regardless of use. I've never used bolt in, the word I keep hearing is if you do bolt-in, get them welded in.
SBC mods are all over these forums. Heads, cam, intake (the Performer is fine up to 5500 RPMs), higher stall converter, higher ratio gears, etc. A larger rear sway bar helps for both straight-line and through the curves.

Re: New guy
The biggest issue with V6 cars next to V8 cars is the super soft suspension. If it were me, I'd find a late thirdgen Z28 or WS6 Firebird in the junkyard and get the sway bars, springs, and steering box. It makes a difference you'll actually notice.
