bad starter motor?
My 90GTA is making some grinding/rev noise immediately after the engine starts up, and the grinding/rev noise lasts for about 3 seconds, then everything seems normal after that. In doing some research this sounds like the starter motor is remaining engaged on the flywheel after the engine starts, which it shouldn't do. Has anyone had this problem, and can anyone confirm that this is a bad starter motor?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: bad starter motor?
Sounds like it to me. Sounds like it's not retaching like it should. I believe I've had one do that to me in the past. I've also had them fail where it wouldn't engage but it would spin. It would engage but not spin... etc.
You could check the starter bolts to make sure there tight. I've had them make some noise if they ever get loose. I doubt that's your issue though.
It should be easy enough to pull it out and take it to Autozone or another Auto Parts Store. Most offer free on-site testing of starters. They verify it's in working order including the solenoid.

Re: bad starter motor?
If this were a new starter install, I would check for proper clearance and install shims as needed.
