305 bottom end
305 bottom end
Hey guys my names Josh Sweigart, I'm new to the forum, an i have some questions that I think you guys can help me out with. I have a 1979 impala with a 305 sbc. I was wondering if you guys knew what the max hp of the stock bottom end would be? I'm looking into putting a single turbo setup on, an I want to know the max power I could put out. I was thinking around 5 or so psi for the stock motor. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: 305 bottom end
There is no magic numbers or proof numbers on how much power things can take there are just to many factors. I can rattle off some guide lines. 305 block easily 500hp+ / 500hp 2 bolt, sprayed caps 500hp+ (They say the 305s have a much thicker webbing then that of the 350s. factory balanced crank 500hp. Factory balanced rods 375hp give or take NOTE: The rod studs/bolts will fail before the rods) pistons give or take its hard to rate these in HP. If your pushing high RPMs and detonating you'll shatter them easily.
