305 somethings a miss

hay guys i have been working on my 1987 camaro for some time now after she sat in the yard for a few years i just rebuilt the 305. i put new bearings and rings and did a line bore and cam bearings.
i got it all back together and # 4 was not firing did a compression test and only had 35 psi in #4 was thinking maybe that the rings did not seat or maybe a valve problem. decided to check all holes b4 i pulled the head and took it down to the shop.i have only had the car running maybe 15 min since the rebuild and since the last time i got 35.psi in #4 its been ran maybe 5 min now i get 85.psi in #4 and 120psi in #6 all others #1357...2 8 all are 150psi what PSI should i be getting? this sound like rings or valves? this is driving me nuts

The actual number isn't as important as making sure it's consistent across all cylinders.

A wet test will help you decide if it's bad rings, but a leakdown test is much more useful. Since it's between adjoining cylinders, I'd almost be tempted to say head gasket.
