Pics of Wiper Motor and Questions
Pics of Wiper Motor and Questions
Here are 2 pics of my wiper motor. I think something came off the track.
Note how the rotating arm is right up against the spring.
Note how the tab with the hole in it that points straight up, on the end of the rotating arm, doesn't have anything in it.
There is a small post, at the end of the spring, near the center of the pic, that I think is supposed to fit into the hole at the end of the tab.
On the cover there is a slot that I think the big post is supposed to fit into, but the slot is currently on the wrong side.
This is exactly how it was when I took off the cover. The wipers are in park position.
They would not work on delay or low, but were working on high for a while, but then eventually they stopped working on high, and just jerked around up and down at the bottom of the windshield about 3 inches.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can I move the wipers by hand to get the posts to move to the right places, and hook everything up again? I haven't moved anything yet, since I removed the cover.
Thanks !!!!!!

Re: Pics of Wiper Motor and Questions
I just went to the Autozone website to look at the pic they have of the replacement wiper motor. It has the same setup. It has that tab with the hole in it just sitting there, just like mine, so maybe it's normal.
But I noticed that there is a small spring above and to the right of the large spring, on my wiper motor, that is connected to a lever, but not connected to anything else! The spring is just hanging there. Hmmm. What should it connect to?

Re: Pics of Wiper Motor and Questions
Update : I cleaned off some contacts on the circuit board and put it back on, and I have all the wiper functions back.
Except for off. This is how it was 10 years ago when I bought it. Back to "normal".
Oh yeah, I left that little spring alone. It' still not pulling on anything. The wipers will go off if I turn the ignition off for about 10 minutes.
