92 chevy 305 tbi wont idle
i have a 92 chevy tbi 305> First off one of the injectors would not fire so I replaced both injectors and found that the fuel regulator spring was broke so I took a fuel meter off a car at a pull apart and am using it. I did the fuel pressure with a differnt meter cover on it and it tested fine. I replaced the cap, rotor, distributor which came rebuilt with module and pickup coil installed, manifold gasket, valve cover gaskets.all grounds, coolant temp sensor, all hoses and vacume lines, and It now gets fuel out of both injectors. Its will idle for a few seconds and shut off. and the injectors are still ticking after shutt off somtimes. and somtimes they will be ticking when the key is in the on position. not all the time though....I have set the distributor in alot of positions and marked them all and still wont hold a idle at no position I put it in but for a few seconds. I unhooked the brown with stripe wire and it runs alot better then with it hooked up but still dies after a while. I tested the tps and the volts on my meter when set to twelve volts is only showing .04 and dosnt even go to 1 volt at wide open throttle. I am getting the same low reading on the map sensor. At any of the volt settings on my digital ohm meter I will get these wierd readings. I have no codes at all. Its a 92 chyanne pickup...I like this web page because I see better help here at some tbi post.
Re: 92 chevy 305 tbi wont idle
I had fixed it but never posted back.....You hit the nail pretty much on the head with your respond though...I had replaced the oil sending unit sensor and the two long electric prongs inside the sensor that go in to the harness clip after i hooked it up....one of them bent to the side so It was thinking there was no oil pressure so it would not idle...I found that after taking it out and cleaning it up to be taken back....It still was only firing out of one injecter though so I unhooked the computer to check out the numbers and come to find a melted red wire behind the glove box so I moved it around because the insulation was burned off and the bare wires were green and the platic connector was chared and hooked the computer back up and it ran great... I recently sold the truck.
