Greetings all from cold, rainy England,
I am having issues with oil pressure in my '89 Formula 350. The needle sits smack in the middle until the engine is warm. Thereafter it is fine while driving, but as soon as I stop at a light or junction, (or any of the zillions of roadworks in England) the needle nosedives to zero and rattles around there. If I rev the engine it goes up, but at idle it hovers at zero. I had the oil pump & pickup replaced and then within two months it started again. Given that it cost £800 to have the work done I'm reluctant to have them investigate again. Does this sound familiar? Could it be something other than the pump? Any advice would be gratefully received.

you could also check out the oil pressure sensor just above the oil filter. those are like $20 to replace.

Also the gauge itself could be bad.
Since the gauge seems to be functioning, I also would suspect the oil pressure sender right above the oil filter. At least replace that before doing anything else.
