v belt to serpentine
v belt to serpentine
I've got a 86 z28 camaro with a 6 rib serpentine belt turning the alternator and the water pump and a v belt turning the power steering pump. Are there any aftermarket pullies available to convert the crank pulley and power steering pulley to a serpentine style belt? or do i just have to convert to serpentine?

Re: v belt to serpentine
I did that using CV products stuff, a KRC pump & a custom made crank pulley. I don't think there's anything for sale out there unless you convert to a complete KRC front drive system but you have to use their WP too. I have that setup on my vette, works great but you have to either use a small denso alt which doesn't put out enough for EFI & electronics in these cars, or get a delco one, they are expensive. Easily runs you in excess of 1K for all of it.

Re: v belt to serpentine
I am kinda in the same situation. I have an 86 IROC-Z with a 305 TPI with A/C and air-pump. I want to switch it all to serpentine, I looked into a later 305 or 350 off a 91 or 92 with the same set-up, Because I live in CA I have to keep the air-pump. I also looked into the Corvette set up on some of the mid 90's, I know GM Performance parts sells them still new and Summit has it too. I have put that system on a 72 Chevelle and its a good little system, but I am unsure it will fit under a 3gen hood and everything can still fit up..... Oh and most of the aftermarket stuff is super expensive....
