355 Build Help!!!!

Ok first off let me start off by saying I am a complete automotive rookie..... Don't know how to work on cars what so ever, but have a lot of mechanic friends.

I have sitting in storage a rebuilt 355 sbc the person who built it did a great job and what not but I don't like some of the parts he used mainly the heads, he used a set of 624 heads which I know are some of the worst heads in history lol, so I decided might as well replace heads while motor is not in car. well what I need help with is matching my cam with the right set of vortec heads and I'm going to put a holley stealth RAM vortec base on top, now its not the best cam but its not stock, and I dnt have a whole lot of money to spend on this I'm looking at about $1000 to spend after I buy the holley stealth ram, (dnt have a lot of cash I'm a 19 year old college student lol). here's were I kinda run into a problem I'm not sure what the specs of the cam is I know its a erson cam but the recipt I have from the rebuilt engine purchase says its a 272.468 cam, but the cam card he gave me says 290.465 cam, I called him and he said he must of wrote the wrong thing on recipt but I'm still a little skepticle and dnt want to buy wrong heads

Now since I really dnt know which specs are correct I was wondering if you guys would help me pick a set of vortec heads that might work well with both sets of cam specs I provided, heres some links of some vortec heads that I wanted you guys opinions on because they aren't that bad in price but if u guys have any suggestion that fit my price range please don't hesitate to inform me.

The Patriots are a better deal than the GMPP heads.

Re: 355 Build Help!!!!

One thing to watch out for is that some of the GMPP vortecs arent even good to .450" of lift. Found that one out the hard way.

If the patriots are rated for more, go with them instead. As for the price, doesnt it say in the link?
