FUEL PUMP RUNNING
I just put a 3.1 in a 86 bird.got the 2.8 setup on it.We got it mostly hooked up all the way.conected the battery cables and the fuel pump started running. There must not be any fuel in the tank cause nothing come out.there was no motor in the car when I got it.Will the pump run until there is pressure on the lines. We didn't hook them up because I wanted to get any old gas out before we try to start it.Is there somthing I aim missing?

The pump shouldn't run until the ignition is turned on. You could have a short to ground in the pump relay circuit, or the pump relay is fused closed. Or, the previous owner hot wired the pump circuit somehow.

Re: FUEL PUMP RUNNING
OK,I traced all the wires back to the harness as best I could.conected some ground wires that didn't get done.could not find anything wrong that would cause a fuel pump problem unless it was in the computer. So I unhooked the fuel pump relay harness conector.Still had the same sound.checked the rear lid pull down motor and that was what was making the noise. It's in pieces but still conected to the power and wasn't getting signal that the back hatch was closed.
