Help with 350 build

Hey, I've been working on a 350 for a while now. I picked up a bare roller block and an Eagle rotating assembly with 4vr flat top hypers, I-beam rods, and a cast steel crank. It's rated at 500 hp, so I assume it'll hold up for what I want to do. I'm pretty well set on AFR 180 eliminators for heads.

I want peak power between 54-5800, and after running some numbers, I figured I could make around 430-460 hp in that range. I was looking at the 280HR magnum, the exhaust flow looks good enough to run single pattern, but I called up comp and they had suggested an XR282 which is more duration and less lift, and of course has a split duration. I still think the 280s better because of the lift, as the heads still flow well. Which would you guys suggest?

As far as intake, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Performer RPM Airgap, unless there's something better to go with the heads.

Then headers, right now I have some cheap flowtechs that will obviously limit high RPMs, so I was debating on 1 5/8 or 1 3/4.. how much of a difference will there be? I'm leaning toward the 1 3/4 for top end, but have a feeling the 1 5/8 will be better over all, just not sure how much top end I'll lose. Would long tubes be beneficial at this power level?

For the carb, I have an old Q-Jet from a friend. It's set up richer than stock and came off a friend's monte which was around 385 horses. I'd like to use it but not if it'll hurt performance too much.

I'm looking at the 700R4 rated at 500hp from monster transmissions, not sure how much stall though, 2500? Anyone have experience with them?

Probably going to keep the stock 10 bolt with 3.73s in it for now.

I have 275/65/15s for the tires in back, they're bald right now, but would these be fat enough for decent traction? Also, what tires are good, preferably all season until I buy another set of wheels?

And suggestions on suspension and chassis upgrades for this would be great, I'm clueless in that area.

Thanks!

Edit: My goal is a fun daily driver that has decent manners and goes low 12s, but 11s would be even better.

Re: Help with 350 build

The XR282 is a better grind than the 280HR.

Performer RPM Airgap is fine.

Long tubes aren't worth the hassle on a street car.

Can't do much better than a Quadrajet for a street car.

Probably want something with at least 3000 RPM stall to go with either of those cams.

Re: Help with 350 build

sounds similar to my current eng build, i think you will be happy with it.
AFR 180 eliminators heads, i like this idea. go with the split duration xr282hr, perf rpm is a good intake i love my old one, under a stock hood with my dual snorkel ho air cleaner. as for headers, i have tryed hooker headers, shorties and long tubes, both with satisfation, i would choose 1.75" primaries. love the idea of a qjet, good for street driving, when a took mine off i missed it. cant help you on auto's im t5 or t56. good gears choice. go for some drag radials, i love the boost in traction these brought.as for suspension, def lca's, poly torque arm bushing, these are easy and cheap.go for subframe conectors if you can after that.
