Valve spring install height/coil bind

I'm in the process of installing Comp 26918 beehive springs. http://www.compperformancegroupstore...Category_Code=
Comps site suggest an install height of 1.800", but after using my .060" sring locators the micrometer shows the install height will be 1.755". I don't think this will cause an issue if you guys look at the springs from the link they are good to .625" and the max lift of my cam is .576".. So if i figure coil bind correctly 1.755"(install height)-.576"(max lift)-1.1(coil bind)= 0.079.. Thinking I'm ok just wanted to double check, what do u guys think.

Re: Valve spring install height/coil bind

seat pressure will go up some, specs say the coil goes into bind @ 1.1 so you'll be fine w. .576 lift on an installed height of 1.755

Re: Valve spring install height/coil bind

As long as you have at least 0.060" before spring bind you should be fine. How much room do you have between the underside of the spring retainer and the top of the valve guide/seal at max lift? Actually, take the spring out, install the retainer then measure the distance. The distance should be less than your max lift. That would be the next clearance to check since the retainer isn't as high as it should be. Your install height will also affect the pushrod length. Another measurement to check.

Re: Valve spring install height/coil bind

thanks guys, so it looks to me i'll have .079" before spring bind. Not sure how my spring install height will affect pushrod length. The top of the valve stem will still be at the same height as it was with my last springs.
