Possible Distributor problem + random question
Possible Distributor problem + random question
I was wondering...
1990 Camaro RS 5.0L "E" code TBI 5sp...
I am aware that these cars have no crank position sensor... and that the information that is usually provided by the crank position sensor is collected via a pickup in the distributor.
How do I test that pickup?
Also, What is the paperclip method of reading trouble codes from the ECM?
Car turns over, will not start, injectors not firing. Checked power to ECM, Fuel pump, Power to injectors, Ohmed injectors, And I don't know how to look for a VATS code in case the ECM is not reading the correct resistance in the key's chip.
I'm STUCK!
I think it's either that pickup, or something has a lifted ground somewhere.

Most recommend taking module out and having it tested at a shop ( Autozone? )
For a Vette but same method

As the VATS module has two outputs,
the starter enable and fuel enable ; then problem could be with the fuel enable signal from the VATS module to the ECM telling ECM to pulse the injectors ( or wiring between module and ECM)
