Ignition Coil and Module Problems

I just put another 305 into my truck and had an issue that left me stranded on the side of the interstate yesterday and I'm wandering if anyone's had this type problem before or have any ideas to what could have caused it. Here's what I have It's an 88 GMC 2500 light duty. I replaced the worn out the 305 with a low milage well maintained 87 Montie Carlo SS 305 while I was at it I installed a set of headers, electric fan, 14"x4" open element air filter, MSD coil and Accel ignition module. Yesterday both the ignition module and coil went out on me does anyone have any idea what could have caused that to happen?

One thing that comes to mind from personal experience. A bad connection in the wiring to the battery which allowed an alternator spike?

Maybe not, but it wouldn't hurt to double check everything to verify continuity. Especially the grounds!

Of course sometimes when that happens, it fries the computer and radio. I've been there!

Did you put the old coil and module back in and are they working? Possible defective new module?

Did you take it to the parts store for testing?

Yea I installed the oem components and it runs fine, I made sure all the grounds were cleaned and connected properly when I did the engine swap, this things had gremlins running around in it since i did the swap but before the swap I never had a problem out of the truck.

Re: Ignition Coil and Module Problems

Yea they do for 90 days from the date of purchase. I bought this one back in sept last year and never used it till I installed this engine in my truck. So I'm beyond their 90 day warranty, so I'm fixing to install a new BWD select module from Oreilly's and a new Accel high output coil in the next week or so.
