oh boy...help!!

My 92 Camaro rs 3.1L just literally started having this problem today when i got back from work. i came inside, the car cooled down for about 3 hours, now wont start. it'll turn over, but wont start. the check engine light doesnt come on. i topped off ALL fluids, tried jumping it, it WILL NOT stay running (if it does start). the first couple times it started i would put it into reverse and it died IMMEDIATLY. nothing is leaking. no funny noises. no alarming lights. no signs from the car leading up to this event. it just happened out of the blue. help me please!!!

Re: oh boy...help!!

There are many things to check. I guess I would start by checking the fuel pressure.

so i went outside to check the fuel pressure, i guess there was a starter wire whose rubber case, due to age, split and cracked, got wet from the snow we got, and lit on fire. im thinking that was the problem, though. there's some corrosion on the larger battery/starter wire, so just goin with my gut- i think that's the problem. any other ideas or any different advice??

Re: oh boy...help!!

yeah, what the guy above said. Always wanna start by checking fuel and spark though nothing spark related acts like what your describing unless you have a lazy ignition coil. The fact that it'll start once in a while and dies out leads me to think of a bad idle control valve.

let us know what you find out....
