Does this car sound worth it?
I came across a car that really catches my eye. I have had a couple third gens but never spent more than 4k on a car. Im currently deployed and should be home soon. So i cant look at the car myself but the few pics i seen look great. Just need some thoughts on if it sounds worth the price, from a few Knowledgable third gen owners. Its a 1991 Z28 and the guy is asking $9500... here is what he has to say..
It's TPI not carb. Does have heater, No Ac( needs compressor ). There is very little this Z28 needs to be perfect. Mechanically, electrically, it's perfect. The middle console is from a fourth generation and needs a little modification to fit perfect. It has a hurst 6- speed short shifter stick and plate( very nice touch) the car is extremely clean!! Here are some additional installment I did not list....
Brand new 18"x9.5" black Z06 wheels and tires
383cu in small block
AFR Heads
TPIS Mini-Ram Intake
TPIS Cam
Edelbrock headers w/ off-road y-pipe
Flowmaster muffler
MSD Ignition
T-56 Six Speed Transmission
White face gauges
1LE Heater Box (No A/C)
Trans AM GTA interior with lumbar support
3.73 gears
Spohn lower control arms
Spohn panhard rod
Spohn torque arm
Eibach Sportline 2” drop springs
Sub-Frame Connectors
Aluminum 1LE driveshaft
Custom Admiral blue color from a 96 Corvette Grandsport
Trans Am GTA seats with working lumbar
4th generation F-body center console
Fiberglass cowl hood
Clean title
Clean Carfax
There is way more this car has that isn’t listed! I have a ton of receipts to verify it all!
The engine has less than 2k miles!!!

With third gens, you can drop alot of money into them like this guy did, but theyre still not going to price that high.

Location is kind of important. I know here on the east coast cars tend to go for a bit more than in the midwest.

Re: Does this car sound worth it?
Then you do not have a Camaro anymore.
You know how it goes when people decide to sell their car. They can dump tons and tons of money into something and not even recoup half of what they have invested.
I would say that sounds about $2K too high. IMHO if the car is as nice as he says it is pull the trigger around seven. I paid 6K for my 1992 with 99K all stock, but "mint" nice.
Just make sure it's not on its last leg motor wise

Re: Does this car sound worth it?
id say about 6500 at most. aftermarket parts dont make you money when you sell a car. for 9500 you can have a badass 98-02 SS.

Re: Does this car sound worth it?
What about the LT1-T56 To the OP I would try to talk him down to about 5k cash in hand. Run the VIN # and make sure it's a true Z28. No RS to Z28 conversion for that price . Be sure to at least test drive it to make sure it packs a punch.

Re: Does this car sound worth it?
Really appreciate the advice! I hope to be home soon so im keeping my eye out for anything that really interests me. I dont think i will ever buy anything without driving or atleast seeing the car. Need a daily driver and reliable to drive me home if i ever need to, but do want something with atleast a little power to enjoy. I would like to build an ls and t56 powered third gen. but i seem to come across 4th gens at better prices. Still undecided on what to do. again thanks for the input.
