1983 Firebird VIN problem
1983 Firebird VIN problem
I recently bought a 1983 Firebird. The owner wrote down the Body Identification number instead of the VIN. When I went to get the VIN off the dashboard, I found it completely rusted out so its illegible.
I've looked around on the net and I hear of other places it could be located. Not sure if that's true or not. Another thing I have tried is to use the VIN Decoder to reverse-engineer my VIN. I used the production number for the VIN as the same as my body production number. I'm not sure if that would work or not.
Any help you guys can offer would be great as I cannot register or insure it without the proper VIN number and I do like this car and want to keep it.

Re: 1983 Firebird VIN problem
please close, was able to reverse the VIN from a VIN Decoder and the 6 digit production number is the same production number as the body identification number.
The owner got back to me and gave me the VIN number that I had worked out by the formula
