i have 89 iroc i built a 327 bored0.060 with speed pro flat tops, a lunati voodoo .489 .504 cam camel hump heads 64 cc 194 valve, headman headers and 3 inch flowmaster exhaust. did a cr of 10:1 was told to run premium and 104 octane boost. does any on have a simular build and what should i expect for horse power and performance? i am running a 700r4 and 343 gears with possi.did not however run a shift kit or stall is this a good combo or is there something i should add before installing the engine?

Re: 327

I built a simliar 327. The difference was Crane .274dur energizer and 76cc heads.
Mine was a blast! Had loads of power even though I had very tall gears (307's or something like that). Wish I had that motor back actualy.

How are you gonna use that combo? On the street only? Strip seeing 6000+rpm? Seems like a hight cr for iron heads. ?

To me, it seems like it will suffer after 5000rpm or so with the 1.94's. But thats my limited experience. What intake?
Take extra special care to test and find the specific octane she likes. It makes a world of difference! You may want to rejet and tune just to run on E85. May be less of a pain. ?
I have another similar motor with 12:1 domes under 76cc 1.94's, and she loves life under 4600rpm with specifically 96(ish) octane. But its a 4x4, so its cam'ed accordingly. But dont recall what.

With that lift you may watch out for reversion. This will drag your power down by diluting your combustion charge. Your 3in exhaust (lowering back pressure) is a good start to combat that.
The only thing I would do before install is wrap the headers.

Take a vid so we can hear that sucker!!

Re: 327

Unless you have pretty much a 0 deck/steel shim gasket your compression is more than likely a little lower probably ideal.

If you know how far down in the hole the piston is, the PN on the piston or the cc of the valve relief that would answer some questions.

Lower octane burns faster however it wants to be more prone to pinging.

Higher octane-slower burn but more resistant. Dont want too much or little of either. Bet you got around 9.5-9.7 which should be fine with premium.

Re: 327

i used rcr compression calculator, bore at 4.060, stroke at 3.25 , gasket thickness at 0.040, deck hight at 0.015, piston volume at 0.00, and cumbustion chamber at 64 cc it gives me a number of 10.11 cr
