Needing some help
Are we allowed to ask non Camaro questions? I know there are some really good mechanics on TGO.
If I'm not allowed I do apologize and Admins please remove if I'm wrong to ask...
1995 Geo Tracker EFI 1.6 Liter (Gas is very high, give me a break!)
Background...
Not one minute's trouble starting or running. Driving home one day I noticed a rattle that was out of the norm. Seemed like a rattle you'd hear when the timing advances to far. At the next stop light the Tracker was idling so rough it nearly died. I guess it would of if I didn't keep my foot on the gas. Stopped at the nearest parking lot and left it until the next day, when I hauled it home. It started right up with the same idling problem and had no power. I had to get a run to drive it on the trailer. Two days later when I had time to wrap up a little fan work on the 87 Camaro I was in the middle of, I back out the car expecting to drive the Tracker right in the garage. It will not start now.
Things I know for sure...
1. It is getting fire to the plugs. Not blue but a strong orange fire on the end of the plug when cranking.
2. Timing belt is in good shape and in time. I have the timing belt cover off and seen with my one eyes it's in time.
3. I have the exhaust unbolted from the catalytic converter to ensure it is not stopped up.
4. Gas is in the tank.
5. I have not checked the fuel with a pressure gauge, but the plugs did smell like gas upon removal. (At least the number one on did.)
Things I'm not for sure about...
1. It sounded like it was out of time turning over before I checked the timimg belt.
2. I do think I can hear the fuel pump turn on when I turn the key in the on position.
3. I do think I'm a decent shade tree mechanic but I am missing something here unless it's the ECM/Computer/Sensor.
I might of missed something but... Any thoughts anyone???
As always thanks!!!
