I dunno, I kind of want to question the competence of a builder who nonchalantly suggests 11.5:1 compression in an iron-headed street car is perfectly fine. I mean a 383 with 58cc chambers?
Hell maybe it isnt that bad and his pistons are way below the deck and the chambers are opened up and whatnot and its only 10.5:1... but even 10.5:1 is pushing it, if your timing isnt right on you're going to have some holey pistons.

sorry that its been awhile since i was last on. I was in dissapoint ment mode. lol.
I now have another guy rebuilding my motor. He seems to realy know what he is doing. He has a drag camaro that run 8.9 in think in the 1/4 mile.
The parts that i'm reusing from old motor are
roller rockers
crank
starter
intake and carb
new parts are as follows
350 block bored 40 over
heads 200 flow up to 570 lift
custom grinded cam. not sure of specs
scatt forged piston rods
going with same brand piston just .40 over this time
Build should be done in a couple weeks. the guy who is building it guarrentes his work plus after i install the motor he will be coming over for the first start for break in. Does that with all the motors he build. He also told me for a couple hundred and a couple hrs he could rent us some dnyo time and really tune everything in.

I'm sorry but what kind of junk block are you using that it must be bored .040 over? Please don't tell me that you are boring it simply to get all of that extra displacement
the idea is hopefully to have a block that doesn't need to be bored but if it does, as little as possible.
i also gather that you are having another stroker built?

yes another 383.
the block was already .30 over and i bought .40 over pistons and then he tq honed them for the pistons.
