383 Build
So I started building my SBC stroker finally, my budget changed drastically as I invested some money into my other project. It is going to be carbureted.
I have a 350 2 bolt main block that I just got back from the machine shop, it was splayed, cut a larger crank and bored .039" for now (it will go back for a final hone when I get my pistons. I'm running a 3.75" crank.
Anyway, I'm trying build a street car. I planned on running dish tops (12.8s) and 6" rods. Looking for anywhere between 9.4-9.7:1 compression to insure I can run pump fuel.
My selection of heads is the Dart Iron Eagle Platinums #301-10521122P heads (http://www.jegs.com/i/Dart/301/10521...oductId=756811). I was looking into a flat tappet .552/.547" lift, 236/241 duration, 113 lobe separation and adding 1.6 rockers.
My questions are:
Does this setup seem streetable on 93 octane?
What kind of power can I expect out of it (I'm guessing 430-440)?
What is all this talk I have been hearing about flat tappet setups not lubricating properly on unleaded fuel and if it's true how can I prevent it?
I figure since I have an air gap manifold, 800 cfm carb, and all the accessories already I can slap this motor together for about 3 grand and still have $2,000 left to find an pre-obd 2 4th gen
