305 build opinions

i just tore apart my 86 iroc and i want to rebuild the engine to somthing amazing, ive been thinking and heres what ive come up with, tell me what you guys think, and im staying with the 305 because before i took it out, i grew very fond of it

heres my parts list
-650 holley double pumper
-wiend single carb tunnel ram OR victor junior
-msd ignition
-this cam, or maybe one step lower http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp-Cams/249/...oductId=760605
-ported 416 heads with 1.94/1.55 stainless valves(will upgrade to Trick Flow eventually)
-.060 pistons http://www.summitracing.com/parts/UEM-IC833-060/ (hopeing to get about 10 to 1 compression)
-chrome moly rings (unless i find gapless, i havent been able to yet)
-250 shot of nitrous, if not more if i can handle it
-balanced rotating assembly
-7 quart pan with high pressure/volume oil pump

thats mostly it i believe, i would love some advise or whatever you guys can give me, please no "just swap to a 350", if anythings wrong or needs to better then let me know, i want the best performing engine i can get with roughly this setup

Re: 305 build opinions

I'm not one of those guys that's going to tell you to not waist money on a 305. Because I know a 305 can make good power. But that looks like a good build to me, I was actually looking at getting some Vortec heads and an Edelbrock RPM Vortec manifold with a 600 cfm Holley for my 305. But then I found a 4 bolt main 350 block for dirt cheap. So in the end I did decide to go the 350 route.

Good luck on the build!

Looks like to me it's a cam built for nitrous, and you're wanting to go the nitrous route. So unless somebody else chimes in on the subject with a better cam, I don't see why not.
