Strange loss of power

1984 Pont Firebird
V8 305 5.0L

Good afternoon all!

Over the last few day's I have noticed that after I have ran my car for a few min and shut off, if I go to start up and shift into Drive (Automatic) it feels like it is about to stall.

If I put the car into Reverse it feels like its about to stall!

And if I come to a stop to fast....yup! !Feels like its about to stall!

About a few weeks ago I took my car to a local shop and they adjusted the carb since it was ideling wild, up and down!

Now it's stalling is beginning to worry me! And I dont want to end up with a dead car here.

Any idea's to what this might be?

Well I can understand bad gas, but ive filled it up $30 a few times since ive bought it, I was thinking about running this stuff called Seafoam? Someone at Autozone suggested it, someone else said it can cause huge issues with oil pressure and destroy my engine, so not really sure what to do as far as that goes.

But the fuel filter was JUST changed like 3 weeks ago, the one it had was leaking alot of gas so I changed it out, they had one of those glass cylinders which looks cool but is a POS, so I went with a reg metal barrel style and no more leaks.

So the filter is not bad, atleast not this fast.

Edle carb (not the orig Quadracrap) im told dont have a fuel filter in them, thus the reason for the external aftermarket deal (Is this correct?)

So knowing that the filter is new, as is the entire carb cover and filter and I dont seem to be leaking gas anymore and all my vac hoses are new...what else?

Re: Strange loss of power

Well the mileage on the dash is 72k, but the title is mileage exempt! Not sure wtf that means but chances are its more like 172k lol

The cables are newer, he replaced within the last year...plugs as well.

The oil is fresh, its not due for another 1k miles

Timming was checked when the tech at Minieke tuned my carb, said the timming was perfect.

Here is an idea, he said the header on the driver side that goes down has a bad gasket, nothing comes out of course just....bad smelling air from the engine! Could this be an issue for why im puttering when I stop to fast or when I change gears?

I would think not, after all it only pushes air out not take it in so I cant see how this would be an issue.
