Re: Valve cover gaskets..

what kind of engine (carb/throttle body or tpi)

also does your car have a/c, and if you still have all the emissions stuff its probably going to be a little complicated.

my advice would be to pick up a haynes manuel or something similar from an auto
parts store

id walk you through it but i removed my snorkle, and all the emmissions tubes and hardware when i put on my headers. that was a long time before cracked open my valve covers.

the bottom line is this... its not a difficult job to replace the gaskests. 4 bolts on each valve cover and your done. the difficult part is getting the stuff out of the way so you can remove them comfortably

Re: Valve cover gaskets..

Tip: Start calling it a 2.8 motor, not a 2.7 - there is no 2.7 motor.

Re: Valve cover gaskets..

Took me 5 hours to get cover off easy side(drivers side) on 84 Z28-RTV d gasket to cover and let setup overnight. It will probably take another 2 hours to get back together Had to just about pull air compressor to get cover out-The passenger side is much harder-any suggestions except for pulling engine-What a mess!!!

Re: Valve cover gaskets..

Hey TNT Z28
Whats your advice as far as removing all the smogger crap-I still need to do other valve cover gasket-Maybe I`d be better off to just toss the Smogger crap at same time-Looks like I`ll have to remove most of the stuff anyway--What has to be done to keep engine in syncro with computer when removing all that stuff-
