Crank No Start
Crank No Start
Hey guys looking for some help here. The car is a 89 TTA. I had it on consignment at a place trying to sell since last July. I go to pick up the car and it wont start. It cranks fine and has fuel shooting out of the rail, but I believe it doesnt have any spark. Upon further investigation I found several melted wires and connectors. So far I have found the maf burn off melted, the fuel pump relay melted, and the cooling fan motor relay melted. All the electrical connectors are also extremely melted and distroyed. Question #1 does anyone know where to get these pig tail connectors and relays? Question #2 would this cause a crank no start with spark or is there another relay or module I should inspect. Wiring to the ign module looks to be good. Oh and the car ran and drove fine prior to taking it in to sell.

Re: Crank No Start
1. Go to your local pick'n pull or pull-a-part or whatever they call a self service junk yard over there, they usually will have TONS of 3rd gens and don't be afraid to check other GM cars for MAP sensor connectors..etc because GM is cheap and reuses parts often.
2. Seeing as one to several of your wires and connectors are burnt I would defintely imagine that it would hinder the deliver of spark to your engine. I'm not sure if this is true but if the computer doesnt see any fuel/oil pressure, which could have been the wires that were damaged, it will cut off spark. After repairing continuity, you should be ok.
After splicing the new wires and connectors back in I would check the remaining un charred fuses and relays to make sure they won't be contributing to the problem.
