Broken oil pump gear on brand new pump!

Has anyone heard of or had this happen. never got the car off the jack stands I was pissed

I've never heard of that in particular.... but anything can break I guess

I would expect the plastic collar on the pump driveshaft to break well before that could happen.
That looks like a manufacturer defect to me as opposed to it happening because of something in your motor doing it.

It's a Melling Select 10553 pump. I noticed whenever the rpms went up the oil pressure would drop off sharply. obviously not right. I'm pretty sure when the load would increase on the gear it would just slip on the drive shaft. I'm pretty sure it was broken when they pressed the gear on the shaft
